Le Principe de Peter


  • Dans une hiérarchie, tout employé a tendance à s'élever à son niveau d'incompétence.

  • Avec le temps, tout poste sera occupé par un employé incapable d'en asumer la responsabilité.

  • La compétence d'un employé est déterminée non par le public mais par son supérieur dans la hiérarchie. Si ledit supérieur se trouve encore à un niveau de compétence, il jugera ses subordonnées en terme de travail utile,... Il se fonde donc sur la production.
    Mais si le supérieur a atteint un niveau d'incompétence, il se fiera sans doute à des valeurs abstraites pour juger ses employés, estimera compétent celui qui observe les règlements, les rites, les formes du statu quo. La ponctualité, la propreté, le respect des chefs et de la paperasse seront considérés.
